He relocated to Georgia determined to live life anew. However, with five felony convictions, no college education and minimal work history it was nearly impossible to land a job! At the very moment when he decided to give up, he was offered a 3rd shift position at McDonalds for minimum wage. Shortly thereafter, he landed a 2nd job at Little Caesars. Finally, someone suggested that he become a server. Reluctant at first, he decided to give it a shot. Anything was better than working 70 hours per week with minimal pay. He caught on quickly and excelled above all of his co-workers. One of the hosts told him how all of the guests always had wonderful things to say about his service. She suggested that he go apply at one of those “fancy restaurants” in downtown Atlanta, where he would make big bucks. So, he did just that!! Unfortunately, the door to fine dining was slammed in his face. He had no fine dining experience, he knew nothing about wine and he was uneducated in the overall etiquette of such an environment. Most of these establishments expected you to have at least 2 years of experience. “How can I get experience if no one will give me an opportunity?” he thought. He did his research only to find that there was no school or form of certification on the subject. Reluctant to give up, he decided to learn on his own. In his eyes, serving was the only opportunity that he had. Years later, he finally got his opportunity and the rest is history.

Alvin is originally from Flint, MI. He has a 2-year-old daughter whom he absolutely adores! He is also a Certified Personal Trainer who enjoys pushing himself and others to the limit. Furthermore, he is an avid reader who has an insatiable appetite for learning. He enjoys listening to Trap Music, Gospel, Smooth Jazz and Meditation Music. Alvin is an entrepreneur at heart who looks forward to traveling the world, learning new languages, exploring different vineyards, and changing the lives of others by sharing his story.
